Athletic trainers are health care professionals who specialize in the provision of physical medicine and rehabilitation services, serving as physician extenders in the prevention, assessment and treatment of acute and chronic injuries and illnesses. The staff at Riverside City College manages athletic injuries and cares for student athletes in 17 sports at RCC as well as the management and supervision of the co-curicular athletic training student program.

The vision of the program can be broken down into the following 3 areas;

  1. Management and care of student athletes and the prevention, recognition, assessment and rehabilitation of injuries they receive while competing at Riverside City College.
  2. Introduce the field of athletic training to interested athletic training students, providing guidance and experience through hands on exposure at practices, games and in the athletic training room.
  3. Facilitate California State University transfer readiness for our athletic training students with guidance and direction concerning class selection, and to prepare students with resume building, application creation, and confidence in the knowledge and skills they have acquired.
